The Kitchen, Saturday, April 16th
Phil Boyle has been DJing in Dublin and beyond for the last 16 years and is best know for his residencies with Influx, Backlash, Space Camp and Mother under the name Philth, and his live shows as half of Philth and Seki.
Over the years he has played tiny bar gigs and massive festival arenas, and played support to the likes of Underworld, Orbital, Soulwax, Vitalic, Dave Clarke, Jacques Lu Cont, Claude Von Stroke, Prins Thomas, and many more. He plays the Kitchen this Saturday.

The Kitchen, Saturday, April 9th
This Saturday we welcome Nightflight Djs who will be joining the dots between Disco and House for a night of guaranteed dancefloor goodness. Expect everything from deep, moody house to sparkly disco via uber-modern dubbed out techno. And thats just the tip of the iceberg for made up niches they like !
For the uninitiated, Nightflight is a collective that comprises four sets of Dublin promoters that joined forces to become more than the sum of their parts. It started off as a weekly clubnight in the Button Factory in May 2008, with a diverse music policy that can take in everything from the campest disco to the roughest techno.
Previous guests have ranged from techno overlords like Claude Von Stroke, Magda, Luke Vibert and Steve Bug to disco legends Nicky Siano and Francois K, not to mention nu-disco heroes like Danny Wang and Tensnake and fresh-as-a-daisy house producers like John Daly and Tony Lionni.
See yis on Saturday.
Dance music legend Francois K has been djing on-and-off for over 30 years. Three decades: a span of time that signifies a longevity seldom seen in the industry. And when you look at the course of his career, it becomes even more impressive. Kevorkian started out playing drums alongside Walter Gibbons, the man often credited with being the main inspiration to Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles, and soon became a regular guest at Studio 54, The Paradise Garage, and The Loft.
After a short layoff to concentrate on small projects such as remixing now-classic tracks like Yazoo’s “Situation,” Dinosaur L’s “Go Bang,” and Musique’s “In the Bush”, mixing Depeche Mode’s epochal Violator and Kraftwerk’s Electric Café, Kevorkian returned to the heights of the DJ profession alongside Danny Krivit and Joe Claussell as a member of the Body & Soul trio. The group’s Sunday parties at Club Vinyl are still reminisced over in glowing terms.
Check out this quality live mix which was recorded at Deep Space at Cielo in NYC.

Airbound will be returning to London on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend to throw a mammoth 24 hour party, on a boat, in club and winding down in a seedy little east end boozer. Ramping up significantly on last year’s festivities, the boat will be larger and will have two floors of music, there will be an exclusive Airbound after party held in one of London’s most popular venues; Corsica Studios. As part of a much expanded line-up this year Bodytonic, Downtown Sounds, Shock and Nightflight DJs will be joined by London based brass outfit, Brassroots, Ireland’s answer to Mr Scruff, DJ Kormac, Simon Conway, External Sounds, Belfast Music Club, Steve Egri, Dave Magnier, Saoirse Ryan, Paul Fanning, Guy Hornsby and Dave McDonagh among many more.
They are offering all DJs – be they established or bedroom DJs – the opportunity to play a headline slot on the main stage at the after party in Corsica Studios on April 23rd, one of London’s most highly regarded venues located just south of the river Thames.
If you’d like to enter all you have to do is upload a DJ mix to Soundcloud and title the mix ‘Airbound 23/04/2011 Corsica Studios Mix’ and send a link of your mix to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make sure to include a few lines about yourself, what your back ground in Djing is where you are from etc. and a full track-listing. The closing date for getting your mix to them is Thursday 31st March at 6:00pm. They will then shortlist the entries and put them up for public vote from Monday 4th, until 6 pm on Friday 8th of April when they will then announce the winner.
*Please note: If you win you must organize and pay for your own transport and accommodation for Airbound.
